High Bush Cranberry Bark (Viburnum
opulus)
Description: An upright shrub about 4
meters tall and with smooth gray bark, found in poplar groves, river
valleys and moist open woods across northern parkland and southern boreal
forest of prairie provinces. This shrub produces large quantities of
drooping clusters of bright red edible berries. The bark is used to
produce menstrual cramp medicine. The dry bark is harvested
early spring to late fall and is available by special order on request.

Senega Root (Polygala
senega)
Description: A perennial herb with
branchless purple stems growing up to 12 inches in height. The dried
root is used for a variety medicinal purposes including herbal teas,
toothpastes, cough and respiratory medicines. Senega root is
harvested in early may to late fall and is available by special
order on request

Sweet Flag
Description: (Acorus americanus).
Commonly called Calamus Root, Rat Root, or "Wikis" by Northern
People, Sweet Flag is a slender, aromatic plant with thick creeping
rhizomes. Early Aboriginal People has so many uses for these
roots that Sweet Flag became a valuable commodity, and a medium of
exchange for some groups. Most of the medicinal uses pertained to
stomach cramps, colds, sore throats, coughs and toothaches.Sweet Flag is
still used today by many Northerners, usually by chewing small bits of the
